OMAFRA and the Ministry of Labour are hosting a webinar on Employment Standards in the Agricultural Sector on April 12th from 10am- 12pm.

The session will provide an overview of:

  • Employer obligations under the Employment Standards Act (ESA)
  • Rights of employees, including Temporary Foreign Workers, under the ESA
  • Exemptions and Exceptions relating to the agricultural sector
  • Temporary Help Agencies, placement employees, and the client business – what are their roles?
  • Obligations relating to COVID-19 and the ESA

The first installment of OMAFRA and MLTSD’s monthly webinar series is scheduled for Tuesday, June 22, 12 – 1pm ET. These webinars will occur on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at noon.

Register for Grower Day 2017 – June 21st!

Greenhouse Canada’s Greenhouse Grower Day is just over a week away! The 2017 event will be hosted at the Holiday Inn and Suites in St. Catharines, Ontario on Wednesday June 21st from 8:30am to 3:30 pm.

The “Seven Habits of Successful Growers” theme will tackle a variety of topics, ranging from crop lighting and water treatment, to labour management and automation. Other talks will look at the ingredients of a successful family business, the importance of long-range planning, and the keys to marketing to millenials.  There will be lots of networking time and opportunity to talk to vendors too.

Pre-registration is encouraged to avoid lineups at the door. (But walk-ins are always welcome!)
