Commercial ornamental growers now have another tool in the toolbox thanks to the Minor Use Program. LUNA PRIVILEGE GREENHOUSE® Fungicide label has been expanded to help growers manage powdery mildew and botrytis in greenhouse and outdoor ornamental crops. Continue reading below for an abbreviated outline of the new label.

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the approval of a minor use label expansion registration for LUNA PRIVELAGE GREENHOUSE® Fungicide for control of Botrytis blight and Powdery mildew on Greenhouse and Outdoor Ornamentals, and suppression of Powdery Mildew on Rose in Canada. LUNA PRIVILEGE GREENHOUSE® Fungicide was already labeled for disease control on a wide range of crops in Canada. These minor use proposals were submitted by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Pest Management Centre (AAFC-PMC), and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Agribusiness as a result of minor use priorities established by growers and extension personnel.
The following is provided as an abbreviated, general outline only for commercial growers. Users should be making disease management decisions within a robust integrated disease management program and should consult the complete label before using LUNA PRIVILEGE GREENHOUSE® Fungicide.
| Crop(s) | Target | Rate (mL of product / ha) | Application Information |
| Greenhouse Ornamentals | Control of Botrytis blight (Botrytis cinerea) | 500 | Use a water volume for thorough coverage of plant foliage. Minimum water volume of 1000 L/ha.Begin fungicide applications preventatively when possible, or at the first signs of disease. Maximum of two applications per cropping cycle with a minimum re-application interval of 6 weeks. Rotate with non-Group 7 fungicides that control Botrytis cinerea 7 to 10-days later. If applied to ornamentals grown for cut flowers, do not apply more than 1 application at 500 mL Luna Privilege Greenhouse /ha per crop cycle. Do not make a second application of LUNA PRIVILEGE GREENHOUSE within 6 weeks of the initial application. |
| Control of Powdery mildew (Erysiphe spp) (Podosphaera spp.) | 150 – 500 | Maximum of four applications per cropping cycle with a minimum re-application interval of 6 weeks. Rotate with non-Group 7 fungicides that control Powdery mildew 7 to 14-days later. If applied to ornamentals grown for cut flowers, do not apply more than the following maximum volume of product/ha/crop cycle: • 1 application at 500 mL Luna Privilege Greenhouse /ha, • 2 applications at 350 mL Luna Privilege Greenhouse /ha • 3 applications at 290 mL Luna Privilege Greenhouse /ha • or 4 applications at 250 mL Luna Privilege Greenhouse /ha Do not make a subsequent application of LUNA PRIVILEGE GREENHOUSE within 6 weeks of the preceding application. | |
| Outdoor Ornamentals | Powdery mildew (Erysiphe spp.) | 150 – 250 | Apply the required amount in 100 to 500 L/ha, using a minimum water volume for thorough coverage of plant foliage. Begin fungicide applications preventatively. Rotate with non-Group 7 fungicides that control powdery mildew 7 to 14-days later. Rotate with non-Group 7 fungicides that control botrytis leaf blight (Botrytis cinerea) 7 to 12-days later. Within the stated rate and/or interval ranges, use the higher rate and/or shorter application interval when disease pressure is high or when agronomic or weather conditions are conducive to severe disease development. Do not apply more than 500 g of fluopyram per hectare per year. To limit the potential for development of disease resistance to this fungicide class do not make sequential applications of LUNA PRIVILEGE GREENHOUSE FUNGICIDE or any Group 7 containing fungicide before rotating with a fungicide from a different Group. A maximum of 2 sequential applications are permitted when applied in mixture with a non-Group 7 fungicide. Refer to RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS section for details on multi-spray crops. |

Toxic to birds, aquatic organisms and non-target terrestrial plants. Observe spray buffer zones specified under DIRECTIONS FOR USE. Fluopyram is persistent and may carry over. It is recommended that this product not be used in areas treated with any products containing Fluopyram during the previous season. This product demonstrates the properties and characteristics associated with chemicals detected in groundwater. The use of this product in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in groundwater contamination, To reduce runoff from treated areas into aquatic habitats, avoid application to areas with a moderate to steep slope, compacted soil, or clay. Avoid application when heavy rain is forecast. Contamination of aquatic areas as a result of runoff may be reduced by including a vegetative filter strip between the treated area and the edge of the water body.
Follow all other precautions, restrictions, and directions for use on the LUNA PRIVILEGE GREENHOUSE® Fungicide label carefully.
