Some of you may be aware that Kathryn Russell, OMAFA’s Greenhouse Floriculture Specialist, is on leave. She’s working on a little propagation project of her own 😉
Please join me in welcoming Kyle Hendricks as the Acting Greenhouse Floriculture Specialist for the next 12 months, starting October 5th. He’ll be moderating at CGC this year (on his 3rd day on the job!). If you see him running around the conference centre, make sure to say hi and make him feel welcome.
Kyle will be handling all things related to ornamental production, including nutrients, lighting, substrates, and the greater greenhouse environment. He will also be contributing to policy and programming behind the scenes.
Read on for more information about Kyle’s experience and how to get in touch with him.
Kyle Hendricks joins us from the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre, where he worked as a Senior Research Technician conducting applied greenhouse and controlled-environment research.
Prior to Vineland, Kyle worked with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in greenhouse and research roles, gaining hands-on experience in greenhouse crop production, plant health and applied research. He holds a Master of Science in Biology from Western University.
Through his research and greenhouse experience, Kyle brings a strong combination of practical production knowledge, scientific expertise and industry-focused research experience that will serve him well in supporting Ontario’s greenhouse floriculture sector.
Kyle will be stationed in the Ministry Building at the Vineland Campus (where Rittenhouse is). You can drop by or reach Kyle by email at kyle.hendricks@ontario.ca.
Also note that Kyle’s old position at Vineland is currently available! You can check out the job posting here.
